MATLOCK Town face an intriguing local derby in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The draw has the Gladiators away at UniBond Premier Division rivals Ilkeston Town on Saturday September 13.

"It's an interesting tie to say the least," said Matlock joint boss Phil Brown.

"It's not the easiest but you get what you are given a
nd its a matter of getting on with it.

"Lee Featherstone will obviously want to do well against his old club and Gripper (Gareth Williams) also used to play there.

"I had a call from Gripper at lunchtime on Tuesday and he said guess who we've got in the cup.

"I went for Shirebrook as we tend to get them a lot.

"The thought of getting Ilkeston never crossed my mind. But the cup's important to us.

"We had a reasonable run last season and would love to do better this year from both a financial and a prestige point of view."

It's been all change at Ilkeston with manager Nigel Jemson being replaced by former Sheffield United central defender David Holdsworth and entrepreneur Chek White, featured in the Channel Four documentary 'The Secret Millionaire', filling the ownership shoes of former Chairman Paul Millership who passed away in November 2007.

A number of players have also left the Robins including skipper Gareth Holmes, leading scorer Adam Muller and fans favourite Ross Gardner.

The FA Trophy draw was also published on Tuesday and Matlock have been given a home tie in the first qualifying Round on October 18 against the winners of the all UniBond First Division North clash between Chorley and Warrington Town.

"A home draw's obviously better but whoever we play will prove to be a tough nut to crack" Brown continued.

"It's a very decent draw but we've still got to do the business and they'll come to Matlock with nothing to lose hoping to claim a Premier Division scalp."
