Changing ways on the buses
Published Date:

Madam,
As a bus driver I have noticed a very definite change in behaviour in some pensioners since they were given, pointlessly and undeserved in my view, free bus travel.
They have become more arrogant, ignorant and impolite, they are rude and abusive, presumptuous and ungrateful.
They push to the front of the queue and believe, strangely, that they have priority over fare-paying passengers to a seat, they moan if the bus is late (except if you're due just before 9.30am, then they say you're early because they have to pay), and they have the nerve to criticise 'kids of today' when in fact it is the 'kids of today' who pay their way, offer their seat at busy times and are polite, well mannered and considerate.
In short, the attitude of some pensioners nowadays is disgusting and until they improve the best thing would be for them to stay at home.
