Madam,

Regarding your front page horror story – the place to conserve the past is in a museum!
Why not reconstruct an old fashioned Dales town as a visitor attraction (similar to Beamish) and then bring Matlock Bath, Matlock, Wirksworth and all the rest into the 21st century, colourful signs and all!
