Madam,

Through your website could I remind readers that this is the nesting season for our wildlife birds.
I was shocked a fortnight ago to witness two trees that had been uprooted 'in the name of progress' one tree having a nest full of young chaffinches in it.

Myself and a friend tried to hand raise them with mini meal worms through the night and day but this was not successful.

There was nowhere to re-site the nest near the original tree and they therefore could not be reunited with their parents.

They died three days later, probably due to shock.

Having contacted the BTO and RSPB they advise that in some cases this is illegal and I would raise the awareness of everyone to first look in every tree/bush before any action is taken to uproot trees/bushes or
chop off branches to protect our declining bird life.
