These types off scaffolds are used widely in the construction industry, in such places where things can not be dropped from above e.g motorway bridge repairs.
Why has the pool been left to get into a state of disrepair? I went down to the learner
pool recently and there was paint peeling off the wall, tiles cracked and missing everywhere, the floor in the men's changing room is coming up again.
It's only since the new manager has been in charge the place has looked reasonably clean, the whole building was a dirty disgrace, so I commend the new manger for trying to make the pool a pleasant place to be, but it's about five years too late!
I attended the meeting on Thursday evening and came out feeling very negative towards our council for many reasons; the first being that we were told many times "we were lucky to have the facilities we have in the Matlock area", are they serious? Obviously they have not been to Hucknall, Mansfield and surrounding districts, Belper, Heanor and Ilkeston as all these places have top notch leisure centres and facilities.
The impression I got is that many surveys are going to be carried out on the building and its contents, which will all be in disrepair no doubt, so all of a sudden £230,000 is more like £500,000 to £750,000 to make the building safe and usable for next five to six years.
This makes it unfeasible to repair the pool. I wish the council would just tell the truth.
If, IF the pool gets repaired, as I understand it, the money will be borrowed from the new pool fund. I personally think that reducing the spec and facilities of the new pool to keep the old one open is scandalous. Why have the council not got a pot of money for the repair and maintenance of public facilities?
If it doesn't get repaired why not take the roof off and have it as lido again.
I found the fact that the council were arguing like five year olds about politics when there was an extremely important issue at hand absolutely embarrassing, I think the council need to readdress their priorities and funds.
