Fears money to fix Matlock Lido could leave the town's new leisure centre budget short have been raised by councillors.
The concerns come after Derbyshire Dales District Council revealed repair work to the main pool roof could cost £230,000.
Matlock town councillors unanimously agreed the swimming pool needed to be repaired and reopened as soon as possible, at a me
eting on Monday, but feared the cost of the work would come out of the Central Area Leisure Centre budget.
Cllr David Barker said: "We need to know whether this £230,000 is going to come out of the budget.
"I don't think the leisure centre is going to be as grand as we originally thought."
Cllr Barrie Tipping added he hoped finance would not come out of money earmarked for the centre.
Marston's Brewery pulled out of an agreement to build a family pub on the leisure centre site at the Dimple. The money from the sale was to help fund the new facility.
After the meeting Cllr Barker said: "I've two major concerns now. I'm confident the Lido will be repaired but I'm concerned that money will come out of the sports centre budget.
"Also the £450,000 they are going to get for the pub site – we have got an economic crisis so who wants to invest £450,000 on a new building in this climate?
"I think if it did come out of the budget there would be uproar."
Dave Brooks, director of planning at Derbyshire Dales District Council, said: "There has been no decision on where the money may come from for the Lido as yet.
"As was indicated in the previous report to council the financial considerations will be one of the matters addressed at full council on November 13."
