Bakewell prep school will teach to GCSE
After 125 years, S Anselm’s Prep School, off Stanage Road, in Bakewell, will be providing education from year nine pupils up to GCSE level from September 2015.
The school will continue to offer students board until the age of 13.

Hide AdHead teacher Peter Phillips said: “It is indeed the strength of the prep school and the quality of its teaching which allows for this extension.
“Boarding, all events and prep school characteristics will continue as now and all pupils will be prepared for common entrance and scholarships irrespective of their destination at 13, ensuring academic rigour and high standards.
“The key essence of our prep school, where children remain children, is equally appealing to parents of children up to sixteen. This unique experience is something we will protect.”
The new section of the school will be known as S Anselm’s College.

Hide AdExperienced specialist teachers will be appointed to work throughout the whole school and the governors plan to redevelop the school’s facilities so that all its students will be able to benefit from the changes.
