The headteacher of a Derbyshire school says ‘appropriate action’ has been taken after an incident involving a pupil.

Police were called to Sharley Park Community Primary School on Pilsley Road, Danesmoor, on Tuesday.

Headteacher Nicola Stevenson said the incident ‘involved a pupil’.

She added: “The incident involved a school butter knife which are used by our pupils at lunchtime and not a knife brought in from outside.

“No other students were put at risk during the incident and we have taken appropriate action.”
