The ducklings had become stuck in an unused tank at Old Whittington wastewater treatment works before Yorkshire Water’s key workers-turned-wildlife rescue volunteers used a net to fish them out.
Joe Johnson, product and process engineer at Yorkshire Water, said: “Eight ducklings swimming in an unused tank is not something you see every day.

The rescued ducklings – christened Mick, Russ, Wayne, Steve, Alex, Ryan, Mark and Simon after their rescue heroes – were taken to a local vet and have now recovered and been rehomed at a wildlife sanctuary.
