Healthcare service handover
NHS Erewash CCG, NHS Hardwick CCG, NHS North Derbyshire CCG and NHS Southern Derbyshire CCG have replaced the county’s two primary care trusts as the main planners and purchasers of health services for their local communities.
These services include planned and emergency hospital care, rehabilitation, most community services and mental health and learning disability services.

Working in shadow form for the last two years, each CCG was required to go through a rigorous assessment carried out by the NHS Commissioning Board (NHS CB) which tests CCGs against a set of 119 criteria.
All four CCGs were authorised with no conditions, meaning that they fully met all the criteria.
The CCGs will be overseen by the Area Team of the NHS CB, which is now responsible for GP, pharmacy, dental and optical services.
Public health services have transferred to Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council.
