Leisure centre staff saves man's life
Workers at leisure centres are raising money for a defibrillator for Amber Valley after saving the life of a gym user.
Michael Conway of Selston (pictured) found his heart rate was raised while using a treadmill at Alfreton Leisure Centre; the next thing he knew was waking up in hospital two days later. Workers at the centre had kept him alive with a defibrillator until the air ambulance arrived. The fundraising by staff at Alfreton, Ripley and Heanor centres included a bike ride and a raffle, drawn by Michael. who is now back to full health.
