MATLOCK: Smoking taxi driver slapped with fine
A taxi driver has been issued with a fixed penalty fine as Derbyshire Dales District Council cracks down on staff who smoke in their cabs.
A council officer witnessed the driver smoking a cigarette while parked in Matlock’s Firs Parade on July 6.
Challenged, the driver apologised and put the cigarette out and was issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice which he has paid.
A council spokesperson said: “If we receive credible evidence of any taxi driver smoking in his or her cab, similar action will be taken.”
