Pete Hunt, from Brimington, set up TagTap JTH with his seven-year-old daughter Lillie-Mai and son Baillie, aged nine, after gaining inspiration from the popular ‘Beat the Street’ game.
Still in its infancy, the new family-friendly game consists an app and a number of near-field communication (NFC) Tags which, when scanned, present a web page which contains a clue or clues as to the location of the next tag and so on until the trail is complete.

“It’s been in the back of my mind for a while so around three months ago I decided to have a go and to get the children involved as well,” the 37-year-old explained.
"We started in the New Whittington area doing clues, from where pubs used to be and things like that including pictures of where things could be in the village.
“The app is completely free of charge and there is no cost to play, our main aim is simply to get people out and about now the weather is picking up and the past restrictions are easing a little.

"Derbyshire County Council have also given us permission to put them down the canal as well.
“For the tags in New Whittington you have to answer clues, whereas the rest it will take you to a link on Google Maps for the next location but we’re constantly evolving.
"For example, there won’t be one way to go from each tag, it’ll send you to say the four closest to it so you can choose which way you want to go.”

Hide AdDescribed as a ‘real-life treasure trail’, Pete said TagTap JTH is suitable for all ages and will be ever-changing as the NFC tag locations will change from time-to-time to ensure a new experience for players everytime they access game.
He added: “Because we have the ability to alter the web pages we can change the clues and to which tag they point to so we can keep it fresh and fun.
"We are also approaching local businesses in and around Chesterfield so we can try and promote a shop/buy local theme and, ideally, we’re hoping to get local schools involved so the children can draw and make up the clues.
"If they can actually draw the clues for us it’s more of an incentive for them to get out and about with their parents. I know my children would enjoy it more if their school friends were involved and would get more excitement in finding the clues.”
