The council placed 82nd in the list, which ranks the nation’s largest apprenticeship employers according to the success of their programmes over the past 12 months.

Hide AdCouncillor Jean Innes, cabinet member for business transformation and customers, said: “I’m delighted that we have been recognised in this way for the work we do with apprentices.
"We were the first town in the UK to declare itself an ‘apprentice town’ and we are committed to ensuring that people in Chesterfield can build the skills and careers they want. This is key to ensuring the borough thrives.”
She added: “We want Chesterfield to be a town where young people, businesses and parents think apprenticeship first. The council has to lead by example.”
The pioneering apprentice town initiative was launched in 2017 in partnership with Destination Chesterfield, the local business community, and apprenticeship providers.
