MATLOCK Cricket Club is to field a third team after the success of its junior section prompted club officials to find a way to give promising youngsters a taste of senior cricket.
The team will play its games at Middleton, with permission of Wirksworth and Middleton Cricket Club, and will play in the new Division Ten North, after the Derbyshire County League agreed its restructure for 2009.

A review of the club’s junior season is on page 26.

Darley Dale, meanwhile, will face new competition in the form of Eckington and Cutthorpe in Division Two North, after both clubs switched from the Bassetlaw League. In Division Six North, Matlock seconds face another new entrant in the shape of Sheepbridge, latterly of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire League.
