IT's now eleven wins out of eleven for Belfield Midlands Regional Alliance Premier Division leaders Rowsley 86, and their routine 3-0 win over Allestree on Saturday could have been much greater.
Dan Widdowson, Danny Wildgoose and Lee Boden were on target for the 2006/07 Premier Division champions.
Wirksworth Town were again thankful to Stuart Williams for securing a point in the last minute, this time at home to Holbrook St Michaels, who took the lead with with a 20-yard rocket.
Town skipper James Newton equalised after expertly beating the Holbrook offside trap.
But the Belper side regained the lead from a 70th minute free-kick.
It looked like the points were going to the away side until Williams struck a superb low drive.
Ashover enjoyed a 4-2 home win over Long Eaton United Reserves with debutant Jack Weaver scoring twice and Carl Rosgrove and Craig Hanshaw adding the Milken Lane outfit’s other goals.
Not so good for basement side Cromford, thrashed 12-0 at home by Eastwood Town Reserves.
Matlock Town Reserves had Steve ‘Torres’ Atkinson on target in their 1-1 draw at home to Ripley.
Matlock Sports and Woolley Moor United both crashed out of the Challenge Cup in their second round games – Will Heaton scoring for Sports in their 2-1 defeat at home to Derbyshire Amateurs.
But Wirksworth Town Reserves are through after being taken all the way by Holbrook St Michaels Reserves.
Toby Howard gave Town the lead with only five minutes gone, but Holbrook levelled from a disputed free kick midway through the second half.
As the game progressed into extra time, chances were fewer and the inevitable penalty shoot-out arrived.
Craig Spencer missed Town’s first kick, but Darren Stanley rescued him by saving the first Holbrook effort.
Rob Inckle, Ben Waterfall, Jacob Bradbury, Callum Worth and Steve Brown all converted before Holbrook missed in sudden death to send Wirksworth Town deservedly through.
