With a posse of young bowlers to do the hard work, Matlock made a favourable impression at Eckington, and together with a career best 91* from Tristan Kawalek, they won a great game of cricket by four wickets.
Batting first, Eckington were indebted to South (57) and Lissaman (44), who shared a 100 partnership for the first wicket.

Hide AdThat Eckington didn't gallop out of sight was down to wily campaigners Stuart Poll (3-16), and Ian Bache, who took between them four wickets in the middle of the innings and dried up the runs.
Toby Hubbard took the wicket of South, and there were second spell successes for both Steven Hooper and Oliver Hubbard, who both took two apiece.
In reply, the loss of Bache didn't upset the flow of runs on one of the DCCL's best wickets.
Matt Parry (23) and Mick Rowan (15) contributed, but it was Kawalek's day, driving hard and running harder still, to carry the side home with overs running out.
