​More title delight for Chesterfield's Brailsford at Darley Moor

​Going into the final weekend of action, Brailsford was tied on points with Adam Sheriff at the head of the table in the Classic & Forgotten Era 1300 class.

In Saturday’s opening race, a s the flag dropped both Brailsford and Sheriff ensured the spectators were kept entertained, and after lap one Brailsford enjoyed a 1.8sec lead over Sheriff.

However, with the help of the fastest lap of the race on lap three, Sheriff was closing the gap on Brailsford throughout the race, finally finishing just 0.2sec behind at the chequered flag but now with a three point disadvantage to Brailsford at the top of the table

The following morning’s first race certainly didn’t go to plan for either as when locked in a battle at the head of the field on lap five, both failed to finish the lap, the incident causing the red flags to come out and declaring the race after four laps, thus handing the win to another Chesterfield rider in William Curtis.

This would just add to the excitement of their afternoon race where, by lap three, Brailsford and Sheriff were never any more than 0.5secs apart, eventually Brailsford taking the win, and the Championship, by 0.2sec, handing him a six-point winning margin in the overall Championship standings.

Belper’s Stuart Bradbury, meanwhile, also tasted title success as he won the Pre-Injection Open Solo class by 36 points from Rich Chivers-Jarvis.
