Waterlogged pitches decimate Central Midlands League programme
In the North Division, rejuvenated Dinnington Town, fielding several new signings, won 5-2 at Bilsthorpe, despite going one down after only 14 minutes. Strikes from Aaron Fox, Reece Land and Sheldon McDonald had Dinnington 3-2 up the interval, and further goals in the closing stages from McDonald and Marcin Baily ensured the visitors their first points of 2017 and lifted them out of the bottom two.
The league’s only other match came in the quarter-finals of the league cup, with Hucknall Town progressing to the last four after a 2-0 defeat of fellow South Division high-fliers, Eastwood Community. Matt Brian gave the home side a 38th minute lead before Jaylee Hodgson’s goal ten minutes from time capped The Yellows’ triumph. The other three quarter-finals were postponed.
